Sarcasm is sort of an end in itself.
I seem to be spending my Saturday napping, off and on.
HP7 turned out well; I was satisfied by my experience reading it. Fandom didn't nearly implode as much as the wank-watchers wanted it to, which I also liked. It's satisfying to watch vultures fly away hungry. I did mostly agree with
this essay on problems with Rowling's writing, however. (Note spoilers, if you have somehow managed to not finish your copy this week.)
Now we must endure a decade of bad newspaper & magazine articles asking if every new children's book series is "the next Harry Potter". The answer will always be no, as it was with "the next Beatles", until the next confluence of decent-enough art, marketing aggression, and cultural hunger come about. I'll miss the phenomenon, even though I know many other series are in fact better-written (Philip Pullman e.g.). There's something about the shared experience that's satisfying, the crowds at bookstores on release night, and so on.
Well, at least we have two more movie releases to enjoy this way. Though if the movies are as mediocre as the last one, I might lose interest. Alfonso Cuaron, come back! PoA was the best movie in the series by far.
Is the Simpsons movie any good? The show has sort of long since palled for me.
Am watching Eureka on the tube these days, and wondering when it is that the Heroes milk-the-trend summer series is supposed to start.

Someon3 have been been having fun with HP7 on Wikipedia, as evidenced by the edit history for the "Luna Lovegood" page. It's impressive how quickly such nonesence gets cleaned up.
I'm halfway through HP7 and its a bit disappointing, so far. Way too much of Ron/Herm/HP wallowing and thrashing around aimlessly. OK I GET IT MOVE ON.
